The history of the ATP tennis tour

ATP stands for Association of Tennis Professionals, an international association of the world’s top professional tennis players, founded in 1972. The ATP is the men’s players’ association, while the WTA is the women’s association.

The ATP Entry Ranking and the ATP Race are two rankings of professional players compiled by the association, which determine access to certain competitions and ranking points.

Winning the bid for the ATP Finals was just the beginning of a great sporting journey that has made Turin a key player in world tennis. After the first five-year period, the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation confirmed that the Nitto ATP Finals will also be held in Turin in 2027.

The reigning champion is Jannik Sinner, who in 2025 won his second consecutive title right here in the shadow of the Mole.

Turin will be the hub of a constant flow of athletes and champions who will experience the city to the full, not just as a place to find a hotel. Accommodation facilities such as hotels, residences and restaurants are one piece of a much larger offering that succeeded in winning over the Association of Tennis Professionals.

Where will the ATP Finals Turin be played?

The 2026 ATP tennis event will be played indoors at the Inalpi Arena from 15 to 22 November. For the sixth year in a row, the season’s top 8 singles players and top 8 doubles teams will compete on the famous blue court. The venue will, of course, be specially fitted out and prepared for the ATP World Tour Finals. The city will not just be the backdrop to the event, but will become the event itself, offering plenty of spaces and opportunities to immerse yourself in the world of tennis.

The 2026 edition brings some important new features. The Inalpi Arena expands its capacity to more than 13,500 seats. A Skywalk designed by Pininfarina, an elevated walkway reserved for players, will connect the Arena to the Fan Village. The public will also be able to follow the event on a large LED wall overlooking Piazzale Grande Torino and watch practice sessions on a new open-view court.

Practice sessions open to the public will start as early as 11 November and continue until 20 November, both at the Sporting club and at the Inalpi Arena. It’s a great opportunity to arrive in Turin a few days early and see the champions up close.

During the 2026 Nitto ATP Finals, the Fan Village will be set up next to the Inalpi Arena in Turin, stretching across Piazzale Grande Torino and the Torre Maratona. It will include several themed areas, including an interactive sports area and a Food Court.

The Fan Village will be open from 15 to 22 November 2026, at the same time as the tournament.
